about me
yolo! i'm vinzy / vivienne / vivi — an indigenous artist & designer who is extremely normal about Mallek Adalov. So normal in fact, I created a website based entirely off of him.
I make fanart, original characters, merch, custom designs, etc. most of my brain is currently occupied by a stupid little dumb fictional hacker who has NO business taking up so much space in my life RENT FREE. I could go on, but I'll save you the rant.
Most of my personal art is, well. I don't have to say. BUT. When I'm not drawing that little freak dude, I'm drawing my friends' OCs, characters for personal projects, and these guys:
these guys being all the characters I actively use to represent myself. so, if you see them anywhere, I have been there. <3

so...welcome to my virtual
mallek adalov is a cerulean blood appearing in hiveswap act 2, friendsim, and hiveswap2 — a self-taught hacktivist (he prefers "information specialist," thank you very much), anti-establishment punk, and one of the most compelling characters in the franchise. his typing quirk uses programming syntax conventions: = for is/it's, /= for isn't, and ; in place of periods.
on the surface mallek reads as laid-back, unbothered, easy to be around — and he is, genuinely. but underneath that projected calm is someone quietly exhausted by a system he can see through completely and can't fully fight yet. he's surrounded by more computer equipment than any reasonable person needs, capable of hacking shipment drones like it's nothing, and still calls his own skills "weaksauce shit." the self-deprecation is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. what he actually wants is to create real impact — to commandeer drones en masse, to matter on a larger scale. the gap between what he's capable of and what alternian society will let him do with it clearly weighs on him.
he's not a revolutionary in the active, front-lines sense — but he's not indifferent either. he knows the system is brutal, genuinely feels for the lowbloods caught under it, and moves through the world with a quiet courtesy that his caste doesn't require of him. he offered diemen xicali shelter off the streets. he pays his lackeys properly. when someone bows to him he gets visibly uncomfortable and gives them an awkward arm pat. that detail alone tells you everything.
he only really loses his composure twice in canon, and both times it's immediate, reactive, and followed by accountability — he pushes the player into the river, then pulls them back out and apologizes almost in the same breath. that's the thing about mallek. the emotional control is real, but so is what's underneath it.
aesthetically he's all punk precision — piercings, black nailpolish, eyeliner. his hive is absolute chaos, dishes piled in the sink, hardware everywhere, zero organizational intention. he knows exactly what he cares about and housekeeping isn't it.
why him?
honestly? i've asked myself that. and the answer keeps getting longer every time.
the obvious starting point is that he's a real punk. not the aesthetic — the actual thing. anti-establishment, anti-hierarchy, aware of the systems crushing people around him and quietly furious about it. someone who thinks that way doesn't stop at hating the empire. that politics bleeds into everything — how he treats people, who he extends care to, what he notices.
but what really got me — what keeps me here — is the softness underneath it. the compressed storytelling of hiveswap means every small moment carries enormous weight, and mallek's small moments are telling. he tells joey she could just stay. he offers diemen a home off the streets, no conditions. he accidentally calls the reader cute and doesn't take it back. these aren't grand gestures. they're just someone quietly making room for people, almost like he can't help it.
the attachment style reads as obsessive in the most earnest, non-threatening way — he pulls people close because he wants them around, not because he needs to control them. he offers shelter, not chains. he respects you even when he's clearly attached. i won't pretend that doesn't hit differently for me.
and he's funny about it, which makes it worse. the shirt thing. the fact that in both games he appears in, he finds a reason to take his hoodie off — he has a bunch, apparently. chest piercings front and center. completely unbothered. that's a character who knows exactly the impression he makes and is a little smug about it, and i think that's hilarious and endearing in equal measure.
he feels like someone i would actually be friends with. that's the simplest version of it. he feels real in the way that the best fictional characters do — like meeting someone you recognize. i can't stop thinking about him because there's genuinely a lot to think about. and i'm okay with that.
